Nansha New District, where China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone Nansha Area (Nansha Area) is situated at, enjoys various advantages, such as central geographic location in the Pearl River Delta, abundant port and coastline resources and close cooperation ties with Hong Kong, Macao and foreign countries. Leveraging these advantages, Nansha Area will establish a basic institutional framework that well connects the currently applicable international investment and trade rules to promote the comprehensive and high quality opening-up. It will focus on the development of shipping, logistics, featured finance, international commerce and trade, high-end manufacturing and professional service etc., and establish itself as a new leader in modern industry, mainly the producer service, and a world-leading comprehensive service hub.

Relying on the PRD and Pan-PRD economic hinterland and the former’s status as world factory, Nansha New District will fully leverage its superior natural and industrial resources to boost port economy and form an integrated pattern of “three centers and one system” (the international shipping center, logistics center , trade center and financial service system of Guangzhou), greatly enhancing the ability of Pan-PRD in distributing domestic and global resources. As an important node of the 21st Maritime Silk Road, the District will partner with Hong Kong and Macao to explore international market and provide windows for domestic companies to go global, thus strengthening the leading role of Guangzhou in the 21st Maritime Silk Road strategy and the function of the Pan-PRD as a gateway of China towards the world.

The 9-km² Free Trade Zone in Mingzhu Bay Starting Area will be developed into a finance and business pilot zone with a focus on headquarters economy, financial service and business service. Following the development concept of creating “a Lingnan-style intelligent city and an attractive bay area by the South China Sea”, the Starting Area is planned as a central business district (CBD) based on Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, serving the PRD and oriented to the world. It will become the core of the Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Comprehensive Cooperation Demonstration Zone, an exemplary area of innovative urbanization in Guangzhou, and a world-class comprehensive urban service center (the future CBD of the PRD).
